Established in 1947 by Electra Havemeyer Webb, a pioneering collector of American folk art, the Shelburne Museum reflects her passion for preserving America’s cultural artifacts. Webb’s innovative approach involved relocating 25 historic buildings from New England and New York to the museum grounds, creating a vibrant village-like setting that brings history to life. Visitors can explore a variety of structures, including a one-room schoolhouse, a general store, a meeting house, and even a 220-foot steamboat, the Ticonderoga.
