    The History of North-Creek Railway

The Saratoga and North Creek Railway operated over former Adirondack Railway trackage from 1871. In 1889, the Delaware and Hudson Railway acquired this line. It was here at the North Creek station where Theodore Roosevelt learned he was to become president of the United States after President William McKinley’s assassination.

By 1998, the line was purchased by Warren County with the intent to operate an excursion train to improve tourism in the area. In 1999, the Upper Hudson River Railroad began to operate excursion trains south from North Creek to Riverside Station in Riparius.

In April 2011, Iowa Pacific Holdings would take over the operation of the route. The creation of the Saratoga and North Creek Railway brought back regularly scheduled service for the first time since 1989. Under the IPH, the Saratoga and North Creek Railway operated over the entire 57 miles between Saratoga Springs and North Creek.
