According to Peace, Love & Cupcakes, no longer comfortable in her financial position, Janice Hardgrove-Kollar took an opportunity to sell some of her vegan cookies in a friend’s health goods store. Those cookies sold out within one day and she realized the potential of her tasteful talent. Janice Hardgrove-Kollar has been baking for years, in which her patisserie skills have been recognized by Pillsbury and the Food Network. Holding the Food Network award for the “Best Cake in the Country” has become ingrained into the aura of who Peace, Love & Cupcakes is.
Peace, Love & Cupcakes is a bakery for all, offering customers vegan and gluten-free cupcakes and cookies. Within this small shop, most baked goods are themed based on the artists featured at the Woodstock Rock Festival. If you are in the mood for something traditional, try the Donald Fagan: devil’s food cake with peanut butter frosting. The best option for a midday pick-me-up is the Jimi Hendrix: a triple shot espresso cake with mocha buttercream. A more wild option for those who are feeling adventurous is the Johnny Winter: coconut cake filled with coconut and topped with even more coconut.
If you’re looking for a sweet treat that matches the theme of the town, order the signature cupcake: tie-dye vanilla cake with tie-dye vanilla buttercream. For those who aren’t the biggest fans of cupcakes, Peace, Love & Cupcakes offers the traditional sugar and oatmeal raisin cookies while serving more unique flavors such as Mystical Chippers: craisins, walnuts, and white chocolate chips. The cupcakes are baked on a weekly basis, so the full menu is not always available; it’s necessary to stop in and see what’s for purchase.
