Come and visit “Central New York’s Central Park!” Highlights include Wegmans Playground, a skate park and The Salt Museum. The park is an over 8-mile linear greenway, featuring four great trails; East Shore Recreation, Shoreline Walking Trail, Lakeland Nature and the West Shore. Trails are open from 6 am – sunset plus 30 minutes each day in April – October and 6 am – sunset from November – March.

Wegmans Landing, a ten-acre venue, includes Wegmans Playground, a colorful area with climbers, swings, play houses and slides. The 16,000 sq. ft. concrete Onondaga Lake Skatepark is open to skateboarders, BMX bikers, and inline skaters and features the challenging Liberty Bowl, volcano, quarter pipes and fun boxes. Stop by the the Salt Museum to learn a bit of local history and to discover the industry that created the City of Syracuse and supplied the entire nation with salt! The museum was built on the site of an original salt boiling block. See the actual kettles, wooden barrels and other equipment that were used in this fascinating process which came to an end in the 1920’s. Admission to the museum is free, while paid tours are also available. The museum is open Thursday to Sunday, May 8 – October 12 from 10 am – 4 pm.
The area also includes the Griffin Visitor Center which is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday & Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m from April to October. Starting November 1, the park is open 8:00 am – 4:30 pm until March 31. The center features courts for shuffleboard, bocce, and volleyball. Visit Equipment Rental Shop to rent bikes of all sizes and various recreational equipment.
In the north end of the Park, check out Wegmans Good Dog Park. Dogs of all sizes can run free in this award-winning waterfront playground, with separated seating actions for large and small dogs. The dog park is open year round from sunrise to sunset daily.
