Sitting on over 400 acres of land, Niagara Falls State Park provides the perfect backdrop when visiting the historic Niagara Falls. The beautiful landscape includes 15 miles of hiking trails, a garden, and stunning views of the Falls. There are a wide variety of hikes, many of which start at the Niagara Gorge Trailhead Center. For those just starting out, check out the Great Gorge Scenic Overlook Hike, a quick one-hour round trip. One of the most challenging trails is the Whirlpool Rapids Adventure Hike; it’s a three-hour round trip and you can plan on doing some boulder hopping. It’s recommended for experienced hikers who are at least eight years old.
You can also take an elevator into the Niagara Gorge to discover the remains of the former Schoellkopf Power Plant, which collapsed into the water in 1956. Or head to the Observation Tower, which juts out dramatically over the Niagara Gorge! Check out the Cave of the Winds tour where you get up close and personal with the stormy mist zone.
