- The Ball is a geodesic sphere, 12 feet in diameter. It weighs 11,875 pounds.
- The Ball is covered with a total of 2,688 crystal triangles that vary in size and
- The Ball is illuminated by 32,256 LEDs (light emitting diodes). Each LED module contains 48 LEDs — 12 red, 12 blue, 12 green, and 12 white for a total of 8,064 of each color.
TIMES SQUARE NEW YEAR’S EVE 2023-2024 HIGHLIGHTS:
More than 50,000 people from across the world will gather in Times Square to ring in 2024! Over 1 ton of confetti will be dropped as the clock hits midnight, confetti that you can write your New Year’s wish on and have included in the confetti dump.
The fun starts at 6:00 with the Lighting and Raising of the Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball.
Actor and TV personality Jonathan Bennett, star of the 2004 film Mean Girls, and host of the Food Network’s top-rated Cake Wars, Halloween Wars, and Holiday Wars, will return to host the Times Square New Year’s Eve party. He will be joined by co-host Jeremy Hassell.
Fans will enjoy performances by acclaimed singer songwriter Paul Anka and multi-platinum hip hop artist Flo Rida.
The night starts to wrap up at 11:59 pm with the “Sixty-Second Countdown.”The Mayor of New York City pushes the Waterford crystal button that signals the descent of the New Year’s Eve Ball, and leads the final sixty-second countdown to the New Year on the Countdown Stage.
