Featured Museums
Participating institutions will include El Museo Del Barrio, Museum of the City of New York, the Jewish Museum, Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, Neue Galerie New York, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
An Evening for Art Exploration
A celebration of the arts and culture, the Museum Mile festival turns Fifth Avenue into a block party. The festival allows art-lovers to experience a variety of museum exhibitions at no cost, as well as special events and performances. The best part? Fifth Avenue is closed to traffic, allowing visitors to get the most out of the spectacular exhibits of the evening.
The Museum Mile festival began in 1978 as an initiative to encourage new museum audiences and increase support for the arts. The day was an instant success and today it sees thousands of tourists from around the U.S., all coming together in a celebration of the arts and expression. The Museum Mile offers visitors the rare opportunity to experience the finest collections of art, history, design and culture from around the globe in a single evening.
“What a glorious night — the weather was just perfect. It was wonderful to join my fellow New Yorkers in this beautiful annual event.”
