Genesee Brewery in Rochester, New York – the oldest brewery in New York State – has transformed into a must-see beer destination with interactive exhibits and a mouthwatering restaurant.
Genesee Brewery is but one of the many craft beverage makers in greater Rochester, one of the world’s best beer destinations. It is a part of FIFCO USA, the largest independently owned beer company in the United States with a focus on quality, facility upgrades, conservation initiatives, and employee safety.
The Brew House, with 16 taps at the ready, provides a variety of beverage options, ranging from house favorites to specialty craft beers and cozy cream ales. They produce the Genesee line of beers including the iconic Genesee, the Genny Light, and the Original Cream Ale. The food menu offers pub staples and appetizers like hamburgers, chicken wings, salads, and specialty meats from Zweigle’s, a Rochester food and meat manufacturer.
Located a mere 0.5 miles from the nearest Amtrak station, this brewery is also only a short distance from the water and a number of historical landmarks and sights.
History of Genesee Brewing
In 1857, Charles Rau established Rau & Reisky Brewery, a lager brewery with a premium saloon and even a bowling alley. Then in 1878, Mathius Kondolf purchased the brewery, now called Reisky & Spies, and renamed it The Genesee Brewery. For decades, despite a small pause during the Prohibition Era, Genesee Brewery stuck around as a landmark in the Rochester area.
A part of the original campus, the Genesee Brew Hosue was established in 2012. The Brew House tells the story of how this iconic beer is made, and discover the history of this location.
