History at Chef’s Restaurant

Chef’s restaurant has been a staple in the Buffalo community since 1923. Chef’s is now owned by the Billittier family, run by Mary Beth and Louis John. It was handed down by their father, Lou Bilittier who started as a dish washer in 1941. By 1954 he was the sole owner and has worked to expand the delicious menu. In fact, since becoming owner Lou has added popular dishes such as Chef’s Famous Spaghetti Parmesan and pasta broccoli to the menu.

Bruce Smith and Chef’s Restaurant

How good is Chef’s? Well, former Buffalo Bill and BFL Hall of Famer Bruce Smith swears by it. He admits that after he tried the spaghetti parmesan for the first time he was hooked. He says it was so good that he went to Chef’s every Friday for the rest of his career. I quickly became known as his “Spot” and he would bring in many other NFL players and teammates. Smith, who has a signature dish at Chef’s, swears the atmosphere brought him back just as much as the delicious food and hopes everyone can experience it!
