Visit the newest addition to Buffalo’s park system! Opened in 2015, the Buffalo Harbor State Park is located alongside Lake Erie. At the park, you can experience boating and fishing with its 1,100 slip marina. On the topic of boating and fishing, the park also hosts a fish cleaning station and personal water-craft launches. There are four boat launches situated right at the edge of an expansive parking lot, complete with boat washing stations for your convenience
It may look out of place in Western New York, but this park only provides more reason to visit New York’s second-largest city. At the park, you can also enjoy sunbathing, strolling along the beach and a playground for children. Although you can take in the sun-rays along the beach, be aware that swimming is not permitted at the park. Also, a maximum of two pets is allowed at the park, as long as they are on short leashes.
With so many paths to travel at the park, you’ll be sure to find something new to enjoy each time you stroll through the park. You truly don’t have to travel far to take in the views of a beautiful waterfront park. Soon, the park should begin hosting several fun events.
Be sure to walk carefully along the paths on windy days, as the gales from Lake Erie can be quite strong! Again, if you’re one for boating, fishing or simply enjoying coastal views, it’s hard to beat a spot like this in Western New York.
While you’re at the park, be sure to explore the Tifft Nature Preserve, which is home to a great variety of bird species.
“This park is clean, wide open, and super safe.”
