The Greater Niagara region of New York is packed with natural beauty, fascinating history and exciting city life. The star attraction, of course, is Niagara Falls, where you can feel the spray from the powerful cascades on the Maid of the Mist boat tour or get up close at Cave of the Winds. But there’s so much more to explore beyond the iconic falls.
If you love history, check out Old Fort Niagara, a well-preserved 18th-century fort with stunning lake views. For wine lovers, the Niagara Wine Trail offers delectable local vintages. Animal lovers must visit the Buffalo Zoo, one of the oldest in the country, while art fans should make their way to the Albright-Knox Gallery (now the Buffalo AKG Art Museum). And don’t forget to eat—Buffalo is the birthplace of the Buffalo wing, so grabbing a plate at Anchor Bar or Duff’s is an absolute must.
Amtrak offers three main stops in the region including Niagara Falls, just minutes from the falls; Buffalo-Exchange Street, close to Canalside and the waterfront; and Buffalo-Depew, a short drive from all the city’s attractions.
Whether you’re here for waterfalls, wings or wine, the Greater Niagara region has something for everyone. Does it ever.
