The free Oktoberfest, which runs for 4 weeks through September and October, features authentic German and German-American entertainment among the beauty of the picturesque northern Catskills. A perfect way to send off summer and welcome autumn, Oktoberfest at Hunter Mountain is a modern celebration of the harvest featuring vendors, free crafts, special events, and much more!
Every day of Oktoberfest, enjoy a variety of free live musical talent at both the indoor stage and the outdoor stage. View the full entertainment schedule here. Food and craft vendors will be scattered in the base lodge. There will be a climbing wall for those who want a taste of adventure, a kids’ arts and crafts tent for the younger members of your party, and the legendary Hunter Mountain Doxie Derby. This beloved event is one of the cutest competitions you can see – a race featuring all types of Dachshund Dogs. If you have a Daschund of your own, you can enter them to compete here!
Also at Oktoberfest is the Steinholding competition, a traditional Bavarian strength contest. Competitors hold a full one-liter beer stein out in front of their bodies with a straight arm for as long as they can. Hunter Mountain’s Oktoberfest serves as a qualifying event for the 2024 New York State Steinholding Championships.
Scenic Skyrides will be available every day from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, which can be purchased in advance or on-site at the Ticket Window. Enjoy the scenic views of the Kaatskill Flyer as you journey to the summit of Hunter Mountain. Tickets are $19 for adults and $15 for children ages 3-12 and seniors ages 65+ when purchased online.
For a premiere Oktoberfest experience, purchase a VIP Package for $55, which includes a Hunter Mountain Oktoberfest T-shirt, a Hunter Mountain Oktoberfest Beer Boot, 1 16-oz. beer or soda fill, and 1 VIP Scenic SkyRide ticket that allows you to skip the general line and access the VIP line.
