What is the Lyndhurst Mansion?
The Lyndhurst Mansion, sometimes referred to as the Lyndhurst Castle, is one of the finest Gothic Revival mansions in America. Located in the quaint village of Tarrytown in Westchester County, New York, this property dates back to the 1800s. Within the 19th century, the house passed between three prominent families who shaped the property into what it is today with lavish expansions–including what is now considered to be the oldest regulation bowling alley in the US–greenhouse developments, gardens and more.
In 1961, when the final member of the final family to own the estate, passed away, the mansion was bequeathed to the National Trust for Historic Preservation. By 1965, the home was opened as a museum and historic site, displaying the opulence of the Gothic architecture and Gilded Age.
The property contains the mansion, a carriage house, bowling alley, laundry and guest cottage, greenhouse and pool all set on 67 acres with views of the Hudson River.
When attending Crafts at Lyndhurst, you can explore the estate with your price of admission. For a tour of the inside of the mansion, you can book a tour for a small additional fee.
