The PGA Championship

The PGA Championship is an annual golf competition featuring the best professional golfers in the world. This year’s PGA Championship will be hosted at Bethpage Black Course in Long Island, New York. This will be the first PGA Championship hosted at the course, which has already hosted the 2002 and 2009 U.S. Opens and is scheduled to host the 2024 Ryder Cup. The championship will be hosted from May 13 through Sunday, May 19, 2019. The first round will begin on Thursday, May 16.

Experiencing the PGA Championship

Tickets to the 2019 PGA Championship can be purchased online here. There are different ticket types, which vary in price, and can grant access to special seating, practice times, and access even tickets to later events. To View the different ticket types click here.

Who Can Play at the PGA Championship?

According to PGA.com players need to meet one of the following 13 qualifications to play in the PGA Championship. These are the ways an individual can qualify:

  1. Former winners of the PGA Championship
  2. Winners of the past five Masters (2015-2019)
  3. Winners of the past five U.S. Opens (2014-2018)
  4. Winners of the past five Open Championships (2014-2018)
  5. Winners of the past three Players Championships (2017-2019)
  6. Top 15 finishers at the 2018 PGA Championship
  7. Top 20 finishers at the 2019 PGA Professional Championship
  8. Top 70 players who have earned the most PGA Championship Points from the 2018 through 2019 season.
  9. Playing members of the last-named 2018 U.S. and European Ryder Cup teams.
  10. Winners of PGA TOUR co-sponsored or approved tournaments in 2018 or 2019. 
  11. Players invited by PGA of America.
  12. Players beyond the top 70 players who have earned the most PGA Championship Points from the 2018 through 2019 season may be invited if the field needs to be filled.
