Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival

The 30th annual free two-day festival of entertainment, food and races in Queens, New York. 

About the Festival

The Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival has been held for 29 years each year in New York. In its 30th year, the multi-cultural festival returns with sports, entertainment, food vendors and more. The two-day festival runs through the weekend of July 30-31 and aims to draw attention to Asian hate crime prevention, support of the Covid-19 vaccination and booster shot, and how the festival will contribute to the economy. On Saturday, the festival begins with the traditional dragon boat competitions.

Entertainment will include performances from the likes of The Chinese Theatre Works Co., NY Shaolin Temple Kung Fu Association, New York Chinese Cultural Center and so much more. You’ll also find an arts & crafts tent, storytelling and non-profit community tents. Food will be available as well from multiple vendors at the international food court.

Attending the Festival

The festival is free and open to the public, making it an affordable cultural event to attend alone, with friends or with family. It’s easily accessible by taking the subway, which can be accessed via Amtrak’s Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station, or by shuttle bus. The festival will occur regardless of the weather, rain or shine. You won’t want to miss out on this exciting multicultural festival experience.
