Cool Insuring Arena

Originally the Glens Falls Civic Center, the Cool Insuring Arena is a nearly 5,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Glens Falls, New York in the Adirondacks.

Originally home to the AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings, the Adirondack Red Wings, this arena was completed in 1979 for the team’s first season. Located just south of Glens Falls city center, it’s been home to the Red Wings for 20 seasons in the AHL, during which they’ve won four Calder Cup Championships and countless players have moved up into the NHL.

Today, the arena is home to the Adirondack Thunder of the ECHL, an affiliate of the New Jersey Devils.

In July of 2017, the Cool Insuring Agency purchased the naming rights to the arena and will hold them through 2024.

More Than Just Hockey

The Arena has been the location for a variety of notable events outside of the ice hockey world. The Grateful Dead played the inaugural concert at the arena in May of 1980, The Who kicked off their 25th Anniversary tour there, Iron Maiden took the stage in 1982, Mike Tyson defeated James Tillis for his 20th straight professional career win, and it has hosted the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Basketball Championships since 2014,
